As an incentive for members to register on the Legion’s new Member Services Website, earlier this year, we offered a chance for registered members to win VIA Rail travel to see Canada’s beauty, generously donated by VIA Rail. We are pleased to announce Mike Gardiner of Vancouver Branch 176 has won our latest member contest!
Mike, a 4-year member, was first introduced to the Legion by his late uncle, mentor and hero, George Gardiner who served for many years on the executive of Rosemont Branch 29 in Montreal. Mike, an Ordinary member who served with the Canadian Coast Guard, followed in his uncle’s footsteps by joining the Legion. “My uncle taught me about the Legion’s vital role supporting Veterans and their families while also building a future Canada that would serve as their proud legacy. I am proud to be a member of the Legion to help honour Canada’s heritage and to build an even brighter future. On a very personal level, I value the camaraderie and fellowship of my fellow members. As I travelled the country with the Canadian Coast Guard, I have been warmly welcomed in Branches from Iqaluit to Inuvik, and from Victoria, BC to Sydney, NS.”
