Donna McRury

Dominion Treasurer

Donna McRury chairs several Dominion Command committees including the Budget Committee, Investment Committee, and Staff Pension Committee. She is vice chair of the Public Relations Committee.

Donna is the immediate past president of the Legion’s Nova Scotia/Nuvavut Command. She first joined the Legion in 2008 at the Whitney Pier branch in Nova Scotia and has been involved in an array of local activities ever since, from Sunday Morning Breakfasts to the annual Poppy campaign. 

  • Appointed Dominion Treasurer in 2023.
  • Elected president of Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command in 2021.
  • Served as Command treasurer of Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command from 2017-2019.
  • Previously assisted branches in Nova Scotia in training local treasurers.
  • Held various positions at the local and provincial levels over the years including roles related to finances, personnel, protocol, by-laws, and public relations. 
  • Received several Legion Past Officer awards at the branch, zone, district, and provincial levels.
  • Awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Certificate of Volunteer Service.
  • Awarded the Sovereign’s medal for Volunteers.
  • Past president of the New Victoria Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
  • Previous co-chairperson for the New Victoria Wastewater project.
  • Has worked for Canada Post for several decades and is currently Postmaster in New Victoria, NS.
  • Married to RCMP officer (ret’d) James Leadbeater. Donna has two children and three grandchildren. Her daughter is a teacher, and her son is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces working as a warrant officer in Gagetown, New Brunswick.
