Legion Poppy Funds help send children from military families to camp
Oct 1, 2021
Poppy Fund donations in Ontario helped send children from military families to Camp Maple Leaf in the Kawartha Lakes.
Over 600 children from military families and other unique life circumstances enjoyed camp this summer thanks to your generous donations to The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund in Ontario.
Camp Maple Leaf in the Kawartha Lakes region is a registered charity that helps children discover their unique strengths, experience all the fun and excitement of camp, and develop friendships that follow them home.
Campers in Kawartha Lakes enjoyed activities such as swimming, canoeing, fishing, sports, arts & crafts, and learned camping skills. They were also challenged to push their limits for personal growth.
Camp counselor and past camper Ellen “Chansey” Scott says, “I really believe that this is one of the most special places on earth and that it does amazing things for kids, but also for adults.”
Counselor Robyn Clark also has great things to say about the camp, “I have witnessed the profoundly positive impact CML has had on hundreds of kids and young adults and believe that something this powerful needs to grow and be shared across Canada, I cannot wait to help make that happen.”
Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Camp Maple Leaf possible!
When this year’s Poppy Campaign begins on October 29, remember the positive impact your donations can make.
