Even through the COVID-19 crisis, The Royal Canadian Legion continues to support Veterans. With the help of generous donations made to the Legion’s Poppy Fund, we are able to provide funding for initiatives that support serving and retired military Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP members and their families.

Recently, Poppy Funds were presented to three national organizations that offer support programs to Veterans and their families. By providing this funding, these programs can continue to deliver therapeutic and well-being programs, at no cost to the participants. Read how your donations are helping make a difference.

Project Trauma Support

Project Trauma Support
As part of a three-year funding commitment, $100,000 will support Project Trauma Support’s 2020 therapeutic programs, which focuses on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Moral Injury.

“The 6 days I spent in Perth at PTS were honestly life changing and literally lifesaving. The program they put together brought us on a journey, the real starting point of my personal journey of post traumatic growth. They showed me what I have not seen in myself for over a decade that I am not a monster and life is worth living. We confronted the demons together and at the end of the 6 days I felt re-born a new man. One that is able to show love, compassion and I was able to forgive myself for the scars of war I have carried and nearly let take my life.” ~ Serving member of the CAF and participant of the Project Trauma Support program.

“I feel like I cannot fully express the magnitude in which this program has impacted our family, but I can say it has changed not only my spouse’s life, but mine and my children’s lives. We will never know a man without PTSD, but we now know a husband/father who is on a better path because of the PTS program.” ~ Spouse of a Veteran who attended the Project Trauma Support program

Support Our Troops

A $100,000 contribution will help fund Support Our Troops’ National Summer Camps Program, as well as PSP’s Special Needs Summer Camp Program this summer. These two programs provide grants for children from military families to attend a week long, accredited summer camp of their choice. Children struggling with the stress and anxiety of military life experience a care-free environment to learn, grow, create and play.

“On behalf of my entire family, thank you so much for the opportunities you have given my children to "just be kids". They will now remember the past 2 years as “that time we went to camp" and not “the time when Dad was in Kuwait or didn’t live with us because he is a soldier and has to work somewhere else". The positive effect this program has had on my children will live with them forever. We appreciate all you have done to make this happen.” ~ Military spouse whose children attended Camp Warwa two summers in a row

Heroes Mending on the Fly Canada

Heroes Mending on the Fly Canada
A $25,000 contribution will support Heroes Mending on the Fly Canada’s fly-fishing classes and outings this year that support mental well-being for ill and injured Veterans and their spouses.

"It's good for the soul to see people who give from the heart to help Veterans participate in the activities put in place through the program. Spending time on the water and fly-fishing helps me refocus and find peace within myself... and focus on the important things in life." ~ Veteran participant in the Heroes Mending on the Fly Canada’s fly-fishing program

The Legion is so grateful to everyone who donates to the Poppy Fund. Those monies are used exclusively to support Veterans and their families, and help Canadians honour our Fallen. In addition to donating during the Legion’s annual Poppy Campaign, you can donate online year-round.
