Legion wants automatic entitlement for Veterans

Veteran Support

The Royal Canadian Legion is asking the federal government to grant Veterans automatic entitlement to disability benefits. This would be an immediate means of decreasing the ever-growing backlog of applications to Veterans Affairs. The current process can be onerous and complicated, and without sufficient staff to process the backlog, there is still no end in sight to the current situation.

Automatic entitlement would equal the expeditious way our government has provided COVID-19-related benefits to Canadians during the pandemic, with errors to be corrected later. Our Veterans deserve the same treatment, and we want them to receive their deserved help, now.

About The Royal Canadian Legion

Founded in 1925, the Legion is Canada’s largest Veteran support and community service organization. We are a non-profit organization with a national reach across Canada as well as branches in the U.S., Europe and Mexico. With close to 260,000 members, many of whom volunteer an extraordinary amount of time to their branches, our strength is in our numbers.
