Legion Nationals promotes Remembrance
The Royal Canadian Legion is committed to ensuring the tradition of Remembrance is carried from generation to generation. Legion Nationals provides an opportunity to educate youth on Remembrance and engage them in honouring Canada's Veterans.
This year marks 10 years since Canadian troops returned from the mission in Afghanistan. Between 2001 and 2014, more than 40,000 Canadian Armed Forces members served in Afghanistan – 158 soldiers lost their lives. The 12-year conflict in Afghanistan, described as Canada’s longest war, is this year’s Legion Nationals Remembrance focus. Afghanistan: 2001 – 2014 is commemorated on the event medals and featured throughout the Championships.
