Greetings from those who make the Legion Nationals possible

Message from the Dominion President

Welcome to vibrant Calgary for the 47th annual Legion Nationals! This energetic city is the perfect location for these elite games for youth – for a second year.

Our 2025 Remembrance theme is the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands. In the spirit of these games, it is important to take time to remember all those who served during that mission, and to thank those who continue to help maintain our freedoms at home and abroad.

These games are also a chance to learn about leadership and teamwork. With competitors from across our great country, you will also have a chance to learn more about the diverse regions of Canada.

Thank you to all our volunteers and sponsors, and to the full organizing team including our fantastic hosts in Calgary.

On behalf of everyone at the Legion’s Dominion Command, best wishes at the competition.

Have fun!
Berkley Lawrence, Dominion President
The Royal Canadian Legion

Message from the Sports Committee Chair

You’ve made it to the Legion Nationals - Congratulations!

I know that your family, your coaches, and communities have helped support you in so many ways so that you could be here. Now it’s your time to shine.

These are the only championships of their kind in Canada. The Legion is so proud to offer these games which allow hundreds of our country’s greatest under sixteen and under eighteen youth athletes to compete and grow.

Whatever your goals: a personal best, a medal, gaining experience for future national or international competitions – these games are an invaluable first step. They are also where you will have the chance to meet some great new friends.

On behalf of our 270,000 Legion members across Canada, good luck to each one of you.

Go for it!
Trevor Jenvenne, Dominion Command Sports Committee Chair

A message from Jyoti Gondek, Mayor of Calgary

On behalf of Calgary City Council, I would like to wish everyone at the 2025 Legion National Youth Track and Field Championship a heartfelt welcome!

Calgary is a young, diverse, and dynamic city, you will find there is so much to see and do! While athletes and families will no doubt be focused on your competition, downtime can be spent easily exploring our city by vehicle, or by bike, scooter, or foot on our over 1,000 kilometers of trails.

Prince’s Island Park, Fish Creek Provincial Park (near Seven Chiefs Sportsplex) and Nose Hill Park are just a few of the many natural and developed park areas to enjoy, no matter the season. Or you can experience the Calgary Zoo, open year-round and situated right on the Bow River, WinSport where at this time of year you can experience the summer bobsleigh, monster zipline and downhill karting, or the turn-of-the-century adventure at Heritage Park Historical Village, including an impressive vintage auto collection.

My Council colleagues and I wish you a successful event and an unforgettable stay here in Calgary. Our sincere thanks to you for visiting Calgary and we invite you to come back again when you can stay longer!

Sincerely,
Jyoti Gondek
Mayor of Calgary
