If you are attending with your provincial Legion team, accommodations are set up by Dominion Command directly and you will be staying at the University of Regina.
For athletes attending the Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships in the open category, a special rate and a block of rooms have been reserved for the championships at the hotels below. Legion Teams, Open Athletes, Clubs and everyone taking part in Legion Nationals are responsible for the transportation of their own equipment.
**New for Legion Teams: Dominion Command is not responsible for ensuring your equipment will get to Regina on the airlines. Please ensure you make the appropriate arrangements for your team’s equipment. There will be transportation from the airport to the track where equipment may be stored; please confirm what your team is bringing that will require this service (airport to track) in advance.
Everyone will be able to store equipment at the stadium by checking their equipment into the Technical Information Centre (TIC).
Limited throwing implements are available on-site. Please see below Implement section for more information.
The Championships will take place at the Canada Games Athletics Complex. There will be bleacher seating for approximately 1500 spectators.
Key Facts:
During the competition, all warmup activities will take place on Leibel Field directly across the parking lot from the Athletics facility. This is a turf area that will require no use of spikes. Hurdle warmups will be allowed on the track prior to start of the session.
On Thursday, 6 August, the track and field event sites will be open for practice. An exact practice schedule will be published at a later date. Please note that there will be no training sessions exclusively for para athletes.

4.2.1 Entry Qualification Process
Provincial Legion team selection differs by province as each Provincial command and/or Athletics Provincial Branch is a part of the selection process. More information is available by province at LegionNationals.ca.
The following Entry Procedures for the Legion National Youth Championships will apply to athletes who meet the set criteria:
a) U18 – Athletes, born in 2009/2010, who have achieved the qualifying entry standards
b) U16 – Athletes born in 2011 or later, who have achieved the qualifying entry standards
c) U14, 15, 16 – Para athletes falling within the U17 category per the WPA Rules and Regulations
4.2.2 Eligibility of Entry Performances

All para athletes must be current members of Athletics Canada and have an impairment eligible for Para Athletics. The Legion National Youth Track & Field Championships will not require classification. All events will be held by grouping athletes in the following categories with final placings to be determined by best performance within each category:
4.2.3 Athlete age category
All Under 16 Age Category athletes are REQUIRED to compete in their own age classification and may NOT move up to compete in the Under 18 Age Category in any or all individual events. This rule does not apply to relay events. Age composition is exempted at the U18 level to allow clubs to field relay teams if so needed.
4.2.4 Legion Registered Athletes
All athletes belonging to a Legion provincial team cannot register independently in any event as an open category athlete.
4.2.5 Relay Registration
Relay registration is accepted without submitting the names of the competitors in advance online. Names are due for registration at the Technical Information Centre (TIC) two hours before the first relay event of the day. Any team that does not register on Trackie before the deadline will not be accepted.
The entry standards can be found here. Open athletes MUST achieve the entry standard. There are absolutely no exceptions to this rule. There are no exceptions due to injury. Please be aware of this when booking your travel and logistics as an open athlete.
Standard conversions have been completed for select events and are included within the entry standards.
Open para athletes are not required to meet standards. Para athletics events will include the 100m, 400m ambulatory and wheelchair races, along with shot put for both ambulatory and seated throwers.
Registration will open on Monday, June 1st, 2026, at www.LegionNationals.ca. All entries and confirmation are the responsibility of the athlete (including carded athletes). Entries are not completed until payment is received. Performance times MUST be included as part of registration. Registration without a valid performance will be denied entry. Entries can be completed by the club and should be done for each athlete.
**NEW**
The FINAL entry deadline is Sunday July 26 at 11:59pm Pacific time. All entries are non-refundable. There will be a three-day period for late entries as below; please be aware of the cost increase as outlined. There are absolutely no exceptions to add an event or participant following the late entry timelines.
Note: Entries for Provincial Legion Teams will be completed by a designated person from each province. Those athletes competing in the Championships as part of a provincial Legion team DO NOT need to complete their individual entries. Qualifying performances will be pulled from the Athletics Canada ranking system (some exceptions apply).
The Qualifying period is January 1, 2026 to July 26, 2026 with the exception of combined events, which have an extended period from August 8, 2025 to July 26, 2026. If entry performances cannot be found, the athlete may be refused entry.
Coaches
All coaches must register as well. Legion Team Head coaches must be NCCP Certified Club Coach and all other coaches (Legion Team coaches / Open accredited coaches) must be NCCP Trained Club Coach. Coaches are validated. If you are unsure of your official levels obtained, please verify on the online platform ‘The Locker’ prior to registering. Coaches will be removed from the accreditation system if they do not meet the requirements. Without the proper qualifications, coaches will need to purchase tickets for spectator entrance and be limited to those areas.
The deadline for Coach Registrations is July 29, 2026.
Special Notice: In 2027 ALL coaches will be required to be NCCP Club Coach Certified. Please ensure coaches make note of this training requirement that will be implemented next year!

The competition schedule will be available online at www.LegionNationals.ca. Please note that changes may occur based on the final number of entries. The final schedule will be available after Thursday August 6 and distributed at the TIC/Registration.
4.6.1 Time and Venue
The Legion Team technical meeting will take place on Monday August 3 via zoom.
There will be no open technical meeting. All information is available online.
4.6.2 Written Questions
All questions concerning the conduct of the competition must be submitted by email through the Legion at egentes@legion.ca by Monday August 3 at 3:00pm CT (5:00pm ET).
4.6.3 Qualifying Heights, Distances and Progressions
The Technical Delegate, after the closing date for the final entries, will decide the qualification procedure for the track events.
For Championship Finals, qualification procedure for the track events will follow the World Athletics Rule 20.
Starting heights and progressions for the vertical jumping events will be decided on, after entries are closed, by the AC Technical Delegate and the Combined Events Referee.
Para athletics throwing implements and weights will follow the World Para Athletics Rules for U17 athletes which can be found in their documents Appendix 1.
All throwing implements, in limited quantity, will be made available by the Organizing Committee. Personal implements must be checked-in and weighed prior to the event.
The location of the equipment and implement weigh-in station is to be confirmed. Beginning on Wednesday August 5, this information will be available at Registration. Implements are to be checked in, for morning events, the night before and for afternoon events, three (3) hours prior to the start of the event, at which time they will become property of the competition for the duration of the meet.
Pole vaulters must use their own poles. Poles and javelins may be stored at the stadium. Ensure that you have a recorded receipt for all items and a count of poles in shipping bags. The Royal Canadian Legion is not responsible for shipping poles whether you are an open or Legion Team athlete; please ensure to make your own / your team’s arrangements. There are no loaner poles available.
Implement Weigh-In Schedule (TBC)
Each athlete will receive two bibs; one with their name and one with a number. All athletes must wear the name bib on their chest, and the number bib on their back, except in all jumping events where only one bib may be worn either on the chest or back.
The Technical Information Centre (TIC) is located at the Competition Site. Athletes and coaches must pick up their registration packages in person. Registration will take place at:

Only Canadian Citizens or those with a valid Canadian Permanent Resident Card are eligible to be declared Canadian Champions and receive a medal. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes members of teams (e.g., relays or cross country). Please ensure you are aware of these rules, as there are other limitations noted, including some not advancing to the finals in certain events.

A medical team will provide the necessary healthcare for the participants of these National Championships. The LOC will provide the following health care and sports medicine services:
A. On-site training/emergency supplies – All athletes must travel with their own training supplies (i.e., tape, ProWrap, etc.); if not, they could be charged for the required supplies. Emergency supplies and trained personnel will be on site. Ice baths will NOT be available.
B. On-site support – Athletic therapists, massage therapists and first aid will be available. For non-urgent cases, athletes will be directed to the nearest clinic. Transportation is the responsibility of the athlete. Please note there may be a private fee charged by any of the walk-in clinics. For urgent cases, athletes will be taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital or urgent care facility.
NOTE: Athletes must be accompanied by a coach or chaperone for any medical/physio/massage or other treatments.
The Opening Ceremony will take place at Canada Games Athletics Complex on Thursday August 6 at 19:00. The Legion Team Athletes will be marched in by province with an added section for Open athletes to join. Please be at the track by 18:00 to take part as an Open athlete.
