Sports are a major part of The Royal Canadian Legion's mandate offering two separate programs—one for Legion members called Member Sports and a program for Canadian youth between the ages of 12 and 17 called Youth Athletics. Legion Sports have been developed to enhance comradeship, sportmanship and membership.
The Dominion Command Sports Committee oversees the programs and provides a Sports Guide to branches for their local programs. The Committee is comprised of a Standing Committee of six people, chosen by the Dominion President, in the following positions: Chairman, Vice-Chairman and four members. The Standing committee generally meets twice per year, in late winter or early spring and in the fall. The committee also receives direct input from the Provincial Commands comprised of one sports representative per province (Provincial Command).
The Committee welcomes any suggestions, comments or questions that you might have; should you wish to contact the committee, please address your correspondence to Danny Martin, Committee Secretary at dmartin@legion.ca.
